Welcoming New Talent to GRD Group
Over the past year, we’ve continued to grow, not just in projects and clients, but in people too. We’re proud to have welcomed three new colleagues to the GRD Group team, strengthening both our GRD:CDM and GRD:EDI consultancy arms.

Paul Smith, Projects Director, GRD:CDM
With over 15 years in the field, Paul brings a wealth of experience to his role as Projects Director for GRD:CDM. He has worked across office and site environments since 2008, becoming a Chartered Member of IOSH in 2012.
Paul’s hands-on knowledge of the construction lifecycle, from early-stage design through to completion and even demolition, makes him an invaluable asset for our clients. His practical, people-first approach means he can confidently support teams in meeting their CDM and Health & Safety obligations across a wide range of sectors, including utilities, local authorities, and both public and private construction projects.
Sam Yates, Assistant Access & Inclusion Consultant, GRD:EDI
Sam joined the GRD:EDI team more recently, bringing with him a unique combination of professional expertise and personal lived experience. With a background in law and education, Sam is also a committed advocate for inclusive design, driven by first-hand knowledge of the access challenges faced by wheelchair users.
His advocacy has led to securing home adaptations and driving forward inclusive changes in schools and universities. Outside of work, Sam is an active volunteer with Leeds Civic Trust, advising on accessibility through its Planning Committee and Heritage Open Days group.
Sam has completed the NRAC Inclusive Design Training Course for Built Environment Professionals and the CAE course on Access to Historic Buildings and Environments, and is a proud member of the Access Association.
